What is accredited is the "Course in Career Management and Job-Search Skills" number (91299NSW) on the National Training Register

Accredited to March 2011

Any organisation may invest in the manuals, but there are restrictions on which organisations may deliver the program as an Accredited Course.


To deliver the ‘Course in Career Management and Job-Search Skills’ as an Accredited ‘Course’, each organisation must:

1. Be a Registered Training Provider (RTO) with their local State Accreditation Board, and

2. Pay the annual license fee to the Career Company Pty Ltd.

Secondary schools may potentially deliver the accredited course but requirements vary by state.

With the purchase of the full set of manuals, organisations can apply to deliver the standard accredited ‘Course in Career Management and Job-Search Skills’ which runs for approximately 32 hrs

The accredited course covers the following: 

UNITS OF COMPETENCY -

(1) "Research and identify appropriate career options"

Elements of Competency

  1. Select a shortlist of career options
  2. Create a life plan, incorporating career objectives with lifestyle requirements
  3. Identify "on-the-job" work performance qualities expected of employees by employers 

(2) "Demonstrate a range of effective job-search methods and techniques appropriate for a selected career"

Elements of Competency

  1. Plan an overall job-search strategy
  2. Understand elements of communication when job-searching
  3. Apply effective job-search telephone techniques (via role play)
  4. Complete an Employment Application Form
  5. Write job-search communications
  6. Optional Elective Element of Competency, Apply door-knocking as a job-search skill (via role play)
  7. Prepare a job-search resume 
  8. Participate in an employment interview as a job applicant (via role play)
  9. Demonstrate an understanding of dress and grooming for job-search (via role play)
  10. Demonstrate appropriate social manners for selected workplace environments whilst job-seeking
  11. List and demonstrate "key attributes" and "work attitudes" employers expect of employees
